Troy Bayliss is confident there is more speed to come from himself and Ducati Xerox, even after easing to provisional pole position and a new lap record around Miller Motorsports Park, round six of the World Superbike Championship.
Looking to extend his already substantial advantage in the standings this weekend, Bayliss quickly got to grips with the Salt Lake City situated circuit by claiming the fastest time in opening practice.
Although it took him longer to find his feet in qualifying, Bayliss eventually rocketed from fifth to first with little less than ten minutes to go with a lap that would place him three tenths faster than anyone else.
Still, while Bayliss was satisfied with his performance at the end of day one, he anticipates that the track will give up more speed as the weekend progress. With that in mind, the Aussie is confident he will remain at the forefront.
"The times are already fast, and we hope to go even faster tomorrow. We've already made good progress and we already have some ideas with regard to what we're going to use in the race tyre-wise. The weather is supposed to get hotter and it's a very physical track so that will definitely make for some great racing!"
