The World Superbike grid will be swelled in 2009 after Boulder Motor Sports announced it would be stepping onto the global stage for the first time.

An experienced American outfit, Boulder have most recently competed in the AMA Formula Xtreme Championship but will now make their first appearance in the world series from 2009 with a pair of Ducati 1098s.

Despite their origins, Boulder will be based in Italy once they take delivery of their new machines and although details beyond this are scarce, it is thought they are almost certain to include one American rider in their line-up.

Their intentions were announced just as World Superbikes is enjoying a revival in the USA following their return to the nation, albeit at the Miller Motorsports Park.
