Regis Laconi is setting his sights high after an encouraging performance in provisional qualifying for the latest World Superbike round at the Nurburgring.
Having caused a stir in the USA when he qualified his PSG-1 Kawasaki on the second row of the grid, Laconi showed he is capable to doing that again this weekend by going sixth best around the German circuit.
Claiming the team are using a similar set-up to the one used across the pond, Laconi is feeling confident heading into the remainder of the weekend.
“It has been a really positive day for me and the team. We had confirmation that the swing arm used on Miller track in Salt Lake City is the ideal one on this track too. I reached a great feeling both with the front and the rear of the bike and my confidence increased together with the satisfaction I've got riding this powerful ZX-10R”.
Team-mate
Makoto Tamada, however, was finding things rather more difficult after suffering from electrical problems, the Japanese rider only just scraping into the provisional Superpole positions.
“During the morning free practices I had an electronic problem and we lost a lot of time to solve it so I couldn't study the track as I wanted to. We solve the problem in the afternoon qualifying session where I closed the gap reaching the 16th position.
“We tested some set up solutions and we substituted the rear shock absorber which gave us good points to work on in order to reach an ideal set up. Tomorrow I'll try to improve today's result s I really want to compete for the Superpole”.
