Broc Parkes held onto his provisional pole position in the latest World Supersport Championship round at the Nurburgring, the Yamaha rider clinching his third top spot of the season.
The Australian rider was in imperious form during first qualifying to be the only person to dip below the 2mins 01secs mark, but smashed that marker to very nearly dip under the magic 2mins barrier this time around.
Nonetheless, that lap was enough to give him a half a second advantage over Craig Jones, the Brit placing his Parkalgar Honda second on the grid. He broke the Australian dominance on the front row, with Hannspree Stiggy Motorsport duo Joshua Brookes and Andrew Pitt ending up third and fourth.
Mark Aitchison was an impressive fifth on the best of the Triumph entrants, ahead of Matthhieu Lagrive and German wildcard entrant Arne Tode.
Star of the day though undoubtedly had to be Tommy Hill, who makes his proper Supersport debut this weekend after recovering from horrific injuries sustained months ago in a testing smash. Having ambled to 29th on the provisional grid, Hill rocketed up the leaderboard to place himself on the second row in eighth place today.
Elsewhere, Jonathan Rea slipped from a provisional fifth to 13th place, while Chris Walker will start 20th on the best of Kawasakis.
