Fonsi Nieto claims he cannot understand why he is failing to deliver in Superpole after qualifying a lowly 14th for the latest round of the World Superbike Championship at the Nurburgring.
Although Losail winner Nieto lies fourth in the standings, he has struggled with qualifying this season, qualifying outside the top ten on three occasions already this season.
With his performance in Germany proving to be his worst yet, the Spaniard is getting frustrated at his inability to pin point exactly why he is starting so low every race and being forced to battle his way up the order.
“My Superpole was not good - as usual,” he said. “I am not sure why it's always this way. The fourth row of the grid gives me a lot of work to do in the races tomorrow.
“I tried my best in Superpole and pushed as hard as I could, but I made a couple of small errors and that was enough to push me down the grid. It's a pity because I found a good set-up in practice and qualifying and know that I can do well in the races.”
