Andrew Pitt's victory is marred by Tommy Hill's injury on his return to the Nurburgring.

Andrew Pitt scored his third World Supersport win of the season at the Nurburgring, although the race was marred by the injury to Brit Tommy Hill.

Pitt led an all-Australian podium on his Hannspree Ten Kate Honda, with the Stiggy entry of Joshua Brookes coming in behind him in second, while Broc Parkes was the best of the Yamahas in third having led much of the way.

Fabien Foret was a strong fourth from tenth on the grid, ahead of British duo Craig Jones and Jonathan Rea. Didier van Keymeulen, Arne Tode, Chris Walker and Vesa Kallio rounded out the top ten in what would become a race of attrition.

However, there was massive disappointment for Tommy Hill, who was returning to action after eight months out with injury this weekend only to leave Germany having broken his thigh bone again.

Taken out in a first corner crash triggered by Tode, Hill was one of five riders to go down but he was the only one to come away with serious injury. He will return home for further treatment tomorrow.
