Troy Corser admits he was slightly frustrated to miss out on a possible first World Superbike win of the season when rain arrived to at Nurburgring just as he had taken the lead.
Embarking on a thrilling dual with Yamaha team-mate Nori Haga for much of the race, the pair swapped places for the lead on numerous occasions before Corser made a move stick at the start of lap 16.
However, midway round that lap the red flags came out to signify rain, meaning organisers had to take the result according to those at the end of the previous lap, when Haga was ahead.
Forced to concede the win, Corser settled for a rather disappointed second, even if he admits he would rather have finished second to complete a Yamaha 1-2 then not finish at all on the increasingly slippery circuit.
"With the weather conditions the way they were it was completely dry at the top, and it was raining down at the bottom for the last two laps before I put my hand up, it was getting wetter and wetter.
“Although I wanted to win the race I just wanted to stay on the bike as well. Thanks to the boys on the team, and thanks to Nori there as well, I had an amazing race with him, fantastic riding. We're getting the bike better and better, hopefully we can get some more great results before the end of the year."
