Sterilgarda Ducati duo
Ruben Xaus and Max Biaggi were pleased with the progress made during the two-day test at Vallelunga, despite the fact that both came away with very different results.
Indeed, Xaus, winner last time out at Misano, was on top form as he came away with the fastest lap of the test, his effort of 1min 36.032secs placing him comfortably ahead of his nearest rivals.
Although he was refusing to draw too many conclusions from being fastest, Xaus was satisfied to still be going within a tenth of
Troy Bayliss' 2007 pole position.
“We did a good job in the last two days and we collected helpful information on a track where data was missing. I was quick with both the qualifying tyres and the race tyres, that's why I feel confident for the September round.”
Biaggi, meanwhile, came away from the test down in 11th place and 1.3secs behind Xaus, although he pointed out that he avoided using the qualifying tyre over the two days.
“I spent both the day to test solutions for the September round, never using qualifying tyres. I'm satisfied with the result I reached and I was able to lap with a good pace. On the other hand I keep in mind that we will lap on a track with different conditions in September. Today there were 62 degrees centigrade on the track.”
