Johnny Rea holds off Andrew Pitt for a maiden World Supersport triumph.

Former British Superbike rider Johnny Rea has scored his first World Supersport victory after a close tussle with team-mate Andrew Pitt right to the line.

The Brit, in his rookie WSS season, held off the attentions of Ten Kate Hanspree counterpart Pitt to win by a mere 0.020secs, a victory that moves him up to fifth in the overall standings. Pitt, meanwhile, extends his advantage over Joshua Brookes to 32 points.

Brookes rounded out the podium on the Stiggy Motorsport Honda, ahead of Australian counterpart Broc Parkes. Barry Veneman scored his best result of the season in fifth, ahead of Gianluca Nannelli on the Althea Honda.

Russell Holland, Matthieu Lagrive, Vesa Kallio and Massimo Roccoli rounded out the top ten, while Chris Walker was 11th.

There was disappointment for Brit Craig Jones though who retired whilst challenging for victory, along with Robbin Harms on the second Stiggy machine.
