Karl Harris is to race in the British round of the World Supersport Championship after being called up by Yamaha to replace Fabien Foret.

Foret suffered two cracked vertebra in his neck in a fall during qualifying at Brno and will be out of action for at least three months, leaving the Yamaha team looking for a replacement for the Brands Hatch race weekend.

As a result, triple British Supersport Champion Harris – now riding in BSB for Rob Mac Racing – will move into the Supersport series for the weekend where he will partner Broc Parkes in the Yamaha line-up.

“I'm over the moon for the opportunity, it's been an up and down year so it's brought my spirits back up again!” he said. “I'm really looking forward to joining the Yamaha World Supersport Team for Brands Hatch. It's great to be riding Supersport again, especially as I've had some success with three previous British Supersport Championship wins!”

Team manager Wilco Zeelenberg was pleased to bring Harris in for the weekend and said he filled the criteria the team was looking for for the Brands Hatch weekend.

“We were looking for a strong British rider and Karl fits the bill,” he said. “He's already part of the Yamaha family so it's great to have him in our team for the British round. Karl is a proven rider in Superbike and Supersport, we believe he can do good things for us at Brands Hatch.”
