Miguel Praia gets a chance to ride the new Portimao circuit before anyone else.

World Supersport rider Miguel Praia has had the opportunity of sampling the new Portimao circuit in Portugal for the first time, more than three months before the track hosts its first scheduled race.

The circuit, known as the Parkalgar Complex, is still being built and will be completed in time to host the season ending round of the World Superbike and Supersport Champion.

However, while the grandstands and complexes are still under construction, the circuit has now had its layer of tarmac completed. As such, local rider Praia, who races for the Parkalgar Supersport team, was given the opportunity to get a sneak preview of the layout.

“It was a big emotion for me, obviously I didn't lap anywhere close to the speeds we expect because the track is still dirty but it gave me a good feeling for the circuit. It will be a great challenge once it is finished and it will not be an easy track for riders.

"The public viewing is also going to be very good as they will see a lot of the circuit.”
