PSG-1 Kawasaki duo Regis Laconi and Makoto Tamada are determined to get on the scoreboard at Brands Hatch

Regis Laconi is chasing a better result at Brands Hatch than he managed at Brno despite picking up a hand injury with his last high-speed crash.

The Frenchman is in the midst of a poor run of form currently after retiring in the last four races, including two accidents in the Czech Republic that have seen him damage the scaphoid bone in the back of his hand.

Nonetheless, Laconi is willing to shrug it off as he bids to improve on his lowly 18th in the current standings with a similar result to the double top ten he managed around the Kent circuit in 2007.

“I think all will be OK at Brands even if the last race was a really hard one. Brands is a track I really like and I hope we can have a good result there, to make everyone in the team happy.

“We all work so hard but we don't have the results to prove it sometimes. I have a little injury to the scaphoid bone in the back of my hand after a crash at Brno. But I have been training as normal on my mountain bike and I don't have a lot of pain, so I hope I have no pain when I am on the racebike.

“Since we got our new rear swingarm we don't seem to have chatter from the bike anymore, and the development of the bike is definitely going in the right way. When we get the set-up working well I am sure we can get good results.”

Indeed, PSG-1 Kawasaki have been struggling of late, with neither Laconi or Makoto Tamada able to get on the score sheet in Misano and Brno. Nonetheless, Tamada is excited by the challenge of Brands Hatch and is confident the improvements Kawasaki continue to bring.

“I have heard a lot about the Brands Hatch circuit and of course it is another new challenge for me. We tried a lot of different settings at Brno but we could not get the bike to work on the track surface there. The good news is that the bike is coming better all the time and I am sure we will find improvements compared to Brno.”
