Regis Laconi admits he is reeling from the hand injury he sustained in a crash last time out in the World Superbike Championship at Brno.

The Frenchman has decided to race at Brands Hatch despite damaging the scaphoid bone in the back of his hand following a spectacular crash in the Czech Republic.

Nonetheless, following a day of free practice running aboard the PSG-1 Kawasaki, Laconi has revealed he is finding it difficult to stay composed around one of the most physical circuits on the World Superbike calendar.

”I have the problem with the injury on my hand, which is making things difficult,” he told Crash.net Radio. “This track is very physical, so it is hard to do what I want to do with the bike.

“This track is especially difficult because the bike is almost never straight. There is lots of compression and I have been feeling quite a bit of pain, so we shall see how things go for the rest of the weekend.”

Qualifying a provisional 19th, with team-mate Makoto Tamada 23rd, Laconi is also frustrated by the performance of his bike after the first day of competition.

“We are still looking to change the chassis too because I am not happy with the feeling at the front.”
