James Ellison believes there is no reason why he doesn't have a shot at a podium finish ahead of his wild-card World Superbike appearance at
Donington Park this weekend.
Ellison will be one of four Bennetts British Superbike competitors taking up a slot on the World Superbike grid alongside the likes of
Troy Bayliss,
Carlos Checa and
Noriyuki Haga, where by he will look to deliver the Hydrex Bike Animal team a strong result.
One of the revelations this season aboard the Honda Fireblade, Ellison believes the pace of rival Tom Sykes at
Brands Hatch is indicative of the British championship's strength.
Speaking to
Crash.net Radio, Ellison is therefore determined to reiterate that point with a strong performance in some accomplished company.
“I'd be happy with pole, the fastest lap and two wins to be honest,” he joked. “Tom has shown we can run with the best in the world. I don't want to blow my own trumpet, but I just want to go out there and ride as fast as I can and the team want to do exactly the same. This is another chance to get out there and get on the podium.
“We are not fazed by any of the guys out there or any of the bikes. I have the circuit knowledge and the experiences, so there is no reason why we can't be in the running for the podium.”
