David Checa, younger brother to Carlos, re-signs with Yamaha for 2009.

David Checa will continue racing with the Yamaha France Ipone GMT team into 2009 after having his contract extended ahead of the latest World Superbike round at Donington Park.

Checa, who has credits in World Supersports and even MotoGP, has been embarking on his first full World Superbike season this year alongside Frenchman Sebastien Gimbert.

With a best result of 12th place at Phillip Island, Checa is currently classified 24th in the overall standings with a total of seven points.

The team are still in negotiations to decide who will occupy the second seat.
