Troy Corser endured an eventful first day of competition for the latest round of the World Superbike Championship at Donington Park after suffering two heavy falls in the rain.

While the slippery conditions proved difficult for everyone, Corser was particularly affected as he suffered two tumbles that have left him feeling battered and bruised.

Blaming the crash on being unable to get any feeling from the tyres, Corser ended provisional qualifying a modest 12th fastest, 2.5secs off the ultimate pace.

Furthermore, he has hurt his hip and the right side of his body, although the Aussie rider, who is looking to snatch second position off Max Neukirchner in the championship this weekend, has vowed to continue this weekend.

“I had two get-offs today and banged my right side and hip a bit and I feel a bit sore, but I'll be OK for tomorrow. In the second crash, the footpeg managed to tear a hole in my leathers and hurt my leg.

“The track was very wet and very slippery and it was really easy to crash because it was hard to feel what was going on with the tyres. In the morning our set-up didn't help, but we changed a few things for the afternoon (pivot, linkage etc.) and I got a bit more feel for the rear. We'll change some things for tomorrow and I'm sure we'll improve a lot.”
