Ben Spies confirms he won't defend AMA Superbike crown in 2009 as it looks likely he is heading for the World Superbike series.

If Spies is confirmed with Yamaha, he will be the first American to ride a factory Superbike machine since Colin Edwards back in 2002.

An official announcement from Spies is expected to be made later this week.
