Kawasaki's Regis Laconi has his sights set on a good performance on home soil at Magny-Cours.

Regis Laconi is hoping a breakthrough in the set-up of his PSG-1 Kawasaki last time out at Vallelunga will see him challenge further up the World Superbike grid for his home round of Magny-Cours.

Laconi returned to the top ten for only the fifth time this season with a ninth place finish in Italy, which the multiple race winner put down to a revision of the rear suspension on the Ninja ZX-10R.

Still down in 19th in the standings, Laconi is determined to repeat that kind of form as he prepares for his home round in France.

“At the previous race in Italy we found something good on the bike set-up, by making the rear suspension a bit softer. It seemed to work quite well. So we will try something like that again.

“We were better on the fast parts than the slower parts at Vallelunga, and Magny Cours has both fast and slow corners. I try my best at every race, but obviously it is special to be racing at my home track this weekend.”

Team-mate Makoto Tamada, meanwhile, had another tough outing at Vallelunga and now heads to Magny-Cours having failed to score in the last ten races.

“We have many things to solve with our set-up, but we are trying a different approach now. I know that the problems we have won't get solved overnight, but we will continue trying our best. I know Magny-Cours pretty well, so it should be good there if we can find good solutions for race day.”
