Roberto Rolfo was in impressive form in provisional qualifying for the latest round of the World Superbike Championship at Magny-Cours as he posted the sixth quickest time.

The Italian, who is riding with the intention of impressing prospective employers having been dropped by Althea Honda for 2009, was also quickest of all in the wet practice session.

The best of the privateer riders during qualifying, although better conditions in final qualifying is expected to make today's times slightly redundant, Rolfo is confident he can reach Superpole for the second race in a row.

“I am feeling quite confident because we´ve had a useful first day of practice and the bike seems to be working fine. Of course, we do need to keep working hard and improve our race pace, especially when the track is dry. We worked on the bike setting which is very important.

“Anyway, I´m satisfied with today's results. I hope that the weather will cooperate tomorrow so that we can continue working on the machine set-up on a dry track. Tomorrow I want to enter the Superpole, that's a reachable target.”
