The brand-new Portimao circuit is almost ready for action just three weeks before it welcomes the World Superbike paddock for its inaugural event.

Allaying some fears that the all-new complex, built in the Algarve region of southern Portugal, would not be ready in time to host the 2008 season finale, the surface has now been laid, the stands erected and the pit complex completed.

It marks the completion of a circuit that only started being built in February, meaning it will have been built in just eight months when it welcomes the teams and fans alike on the first week of November.

Currently, final homologation is still taking place, while the inspection checks are all in effect to ensure it is completely ready to host the World Superbike season finale.

Although it won't play host the title decider after Troy Bayliss wrapped up the crown in France, Portimao will nonetheless go down in infamy when it witnesses the Aussie legend's final race ahead of retirement.
