Ryuichi Kiyonari is expected to compete in the final round of the World Superbike Championship in Portugal even though he is still recovering from his collarbone injury.

Kiyonari broke his right collarbone in an accident during testing at Magny-Cours, forcing him to miss the penultimate round of the championship in France.

Returning to his native Japan in the meantime, the 26-year-old has had his plate and pin operation and is currently on the road to recovery. It is the third time Kiyonari has broken his collarbone.

Nonetheless, the reigning British Champion, who has won three races in his rookie World Superbike season, is expected to compete at Portimao at the start of November for the final round of the season.

Kiyonari was replaced by Austrian Martin Bauer at Magny-Cours, but the two-time IDM German Superbike Champion failed to score.
