The RG Racing Team and Lorenzo Lanzi fail to make the trip to Portugal.

The RG Racing Team will not be present at the final round of the World Superbike Championship in Portugal after announcing that they have concluded their season early.

A message on the team's website simply thanks rider Lorenzo Lanzi and the mechanics for their performance over the 2008 season, although it does not state a reason why they will be absent from the final round of the year.

Although Lanzi's season will be best remembered for his superb win at Valencia earlier this season, the former Ducati Xerox rider has dabbled in the mid-field on the whole this season.

It remains to be seen what RG's plans will be for 2009, although their absence is likely to fuel speculation over whether they will even return next year. Even so, rumours had previously suggested they are looking to expand to two bikes.
