Two-time World Superbike Champion Troy Corser has followed in the footsteps of two-wheeled counterpart Valentino Rossi by taking to the wheel of a Ford Focus RS WRC rally car.

Rossi will enter the Rally GB next month at the wheel of a Stobart M-Sport prepared Focus, but Corser got the chance to sample something a little different to his Superbike machinery this week.

The Australian rider completed 28 kilometres around the Cumbrian forest of Greystoke, with Stobart driver Matthew Wilson alongside him to offer some expert tuition to his new pupil.

Driving a car on a surface that is a world away from riding his bike in a controlled environment, Corser was surprised by the levels of grip being offered on the slippery and muddy surface, while Wilson too was impressed with how quickly he was able to get up to speed.

“It was great to be able to show a two-wheeled World Champion how we do things in our sport. I was really impressed with his immediate pace despite the fact he had never driven a WRC before let alone on a slippery surface like Greystoke.

“Troy got to grips with how to handle the Focus straight away and given some more time, and maybe less trees, I think he would have the ability to really put the foot down. It was fun taking him for a few laps in the co-driver's seat too, I think how late the car was braking for corners really impressed him.”
