World Superbikes » Edwards asks for your help in MotoGP decision!

Monday, 14th October 2002

Colin Edwards has confirmed for the first time that he's facing a three-way choice between Aprilia, Yamaha and Honda for rides next season – all are in MotoGP and none are perfect – in fact he's asking for your advice as to what he should ride for next year…

The Texan had been expecting to conclude negotiating with Aprilia and Michelin, as predicted by Crash.Net last week, stating on his official website that: "Today (Friday) is the day. If all goes well it will be an Aprilia next year. All we need is the a-ok from Michelin."

But things didn't go to plan...

The Yamaha (Biaggi) ride looks potentially the most attractive as it would mean the American would be on top class factory equipment and assured of the latest developments. He would also be jumping on a proven race winner and the only machine to beat the RCV this year.

However, should the Yamaha option be with the Privateer Gauloises sponsored Tech 3 team, in place of Shinya Nakano, Edwards would again be taking a risk with a non-works team (as with the Honda option).

Edwards may also have an outside chance of a ride alongside Andrew Pitt with MotoGP rookies Kawasaki next year. Team Green are due to announce their 2003 line-up after the season ending Valencian Grand Prix.
