With Colin Edwards having confirmed that he and Ducati have come to an amicable settlement to release him from his letter of intent (see seperate story) he'd signed with them for 2003, Ruben Xaus looks to have been thrown a lifeline.

Xaus would have been forced to make way for reigning World Champion Edwards to take up his seat alongside Neil Hodgson on the factory team, leaving the #11 star chasing a possible ride at Aprilia alongside Noriyuki Haga.

However, with no Aprilia deal done and Edwards working fully towards a MotoGP ride, the Spaniard looks like he'll get another chance with Ducati in 2003.
