2008 Despite being 'casually' linked with several factory teams, Xaus is soon confirmed as staying at an expanding Sterilgarda to ride the brand new 1200cc 1098 R Ducati alongside Max Biaggi.
2007 Stays with Sterilgarda, again on ex-factory Ducati 999s, but this time with traction control electronics. A strong season sees Xaus by far the leading satellite rider and he returns to the top with an emotional victory in front of his home fans at Valencia. Takes one further podium finish to end the season in sixth position, one place ahead of factory Ducati rider Lorenzo Lanzi.
2006 With no MotoGP offers, Xaus moves back to WSBK to ride a year old 999F05 for the Sterilgarda Berik team. Occasional strong rides and best finish of fourth on way to 14th in championship.
2005 Leaves d'Antin for the better funded, and factory supported, Fortuna Yamaha Team - to ride alongside MotoGP rookie Toni Elias - but never really gets to grips with the M1. Best race finish of just 10th on way to 16th in championship.
2004 Moves with 2003 team-mate Neil Hodgson to the d'Antin Ducati MotoGP team. Wins rookie of the year award and takes a podium finish, at Qatar, despite an often tough season with an underfunded team and on outdated machinery. 11th overall in championship to claim Rookie of the Year title.
2003 World SBK Championship runner-up to team-mate Neil Hodgson, riding for the factory Ducati Fila team. Strong end to season but too late to trouble Hodgson.
