
2008 With Nieto moving to Suzuki, Laconi is joined by former MotoGP race winner Makoto Tamada on the new ZX-10R at PSG-1.
2007 Stays with PSG-1 Kawasaki for a second season, riding alongside Fonsi Nieto. Finishes as the top Kawasaki rider in the world championship, but is only tenth overall and yet to take a podium finish on the ZX-10R, since his best race finish is fifth.
2006 With few rides available despite his proven race winning ability, Laconi eventually secures a seat with the PSG-1 Kawasaki team alongside Chris Walker and Fonsi Nieto. Finishes just 15th in championship, behind both his team-mates, with a best race finish of fourth. Nevertheless it is 2006 race winner Walker who is dropped as the team downsizes from three to two riders.
2005 Stays with factory Ducati team, with James Toseland as a team-mate again. Team get financial backing from Xerox. Starts season well by offering only opposition to Alstare Suzuki but innocent victim of Valencia pre-race accident, forces him to miss both races. Further injuries follow - and rule him out of other rounds - but in-between he still manages to win 3 races. Sixth in championship. Laconi and team-mate James Toseland replaced by Troy Bayliss and Lorenzo Lanzi for 2006.
2004 Gets a dream full factory ride, alongside James Toseland, at the factory Ducati Fila WSBK team, finishing second in the championship to his British team-mate.
2003 Signs for Team Caracchi NCR Nortel Networks for a WSBK return. Claims five podium finishes (inc. three second places) on his way to fourth in the championship.
2002 Moved back to MotoGP with Aprilia to ride the all new RS Cube four-stroke. A difficult season spent devloping the powerful but ill handling machine. Was replaced by Colin Edwards and Noriyuki Haga at end of year despite some strong rides. Finished 19th in championship with 33 points.
2001 Moved to the World Superbike Championship with Aprilia after losing his Red Bull Yamaha ride - won in his debut season at Imola to become one of the only riders to win in both MotoGP and WSBK.
2000 12th in the 500cc World Championship with 106 points.
1999 11th in the 500cc World Championship. Also scored first pole, victory and fastest lap (VAL).
1998 10th in the 500cc World Championship. An accident in the first round left him playing catch-up all year.
1997 Made 500cc World Championship debut (MAL). Accident in Austria spoiled rookie year.
1996 15th in the 250cc World Championship.
1995 Made 250cc World Championship debut (AUS) and finished 27th in the overall standings.
