In his latest column for Crash.net, World Touring Car Champion Andy Priaulx looks forward to the latest round of the season at Brno in the Czech Republic.
It is the silence before the storm for me in this run up to our next race in the Czech Republic. While every race in the championship counts, I think what happens in Brno and over the next race or two will be mega important to my championship hopes, and from now on we need to start to manage our results.
In the first half of the season we had some great results, but I have suffered because of this and it has meant me being the first WTCC driver to experience the true weight of 80 kilos in Puebla. I can’t say I was surprised by the results there as to do well was always going to be difficult, but coming away with any points was a bonus to me.
My training over the past few weeks has become aggressive with boxing now part of my regime, and this really helps me to stay focused. I know that we will all be more aggressive on the track, so mentally and physically I am preparing myself for this. We all have to fight as hard as we can for our points. Door to door racing will most certainly be part of what we get up to, but I am sure there will be some casualties and I just hope my car will not be one of them.
As for my own personal thoughts about Brno, if past experiences are anything to go by it could be another great weekend. I have won every time I have raced there and just love the track. It is exciting and I love the big hill, although it is known as horse power hill and with 60 kilos of ballast could prove painful for my
BMW 320si.
