Although we have had a few weeks away from racing, I know Bart and the boys from RBM have not been resting. We went to the Hungaroring testing on the 18th and 19th August and I hope this will prove useful for us. We are also going to Spa for two days immediately before Brno and as you read this I should be pounding round the track. It is sad we do not get to race there this year, but at least I am going to have some fun there and hopefully get some very useful information.
Since Peubla I have been able to spend some time with the family. Sadly the summer weather we had in June and July has not carried on into August, but I have still been able to take the boat out and Jo and myself have been able to play with the kids. I also had my birthday on the 8th August and had a great time on Herm with the family. We had a picnic there but I shall not tell you how many candles I should have had on my cake.
I am also still keeping an eye on other series and even popped over to
Silverstone for a day to see my mate Derek Warwick driving in Grand Prix Masters. His race was not very successful, the weather was not very nice, but the race itself was great fun. I have not been able to see my charges from the Formula
BMW UK Championship for quite a while, but directly after Brno I shall go to Valencia as there we will be picking the youngsters who will get the 2007 scholarships.
I am also pleased to report I shall be doing some more commentaries for Sky Sports on the A1 Grand Prix Series. The only thing I have not been able to do is get into the car to have a few laps. We are trying to do this for Sky Sports, but in the meantime I need to concentrate on my BMW Team UK car and hope that my next column reports lots of points from Brno.
Until next time
