With three rounds and six races remaining at Istanbul, Valencia and Macau, there remains no clear indication as to which driver could yet claim the title, although an encouraging day for Priaulx has given him some breathing space.
Nonetheless, with several championship contenders struggling and other outsiders giving themselves lifeline in Brno, it is little surprise to see second to eighth in the standings covered by just eight points.
James Thompson and Augusto Farfus Jr. were the big losers of the day, with neither scoring any points, even if they remain second and third in the championship, while Dirk Muller's fifth has dropped him behind Jorg Muller and Yvan Muller - albeit pending their stewards hearings. Rickard Rydell and Gabriele Tarquini were also left pointless following a troubled day defined by incidents early in the first race.
The championship now moves to the Istanbul Park circuit, where Alfa Romeo will be keen to repeat their dominance from 2005, particularly as they came away from the Czech Republic with no points and a best result of just 14th place.
