Huisman held off a late charge by Rangoni to claim his best result of the year in second, while third place for the independent driver makes him the first privateer to visit the podium twice in one WTCC season, let alone in one weekend.
Larini was unable to do anything about the
BMW charge at the front, but third and fourth place finishes in one weekend move him ahead of Chevrolet team-mates Alain Menu and Rob Huff in the standings. Farfus ended up a rather lonely but significant fifth, his 14 point haul lifting him to the top of the standings for the first time.
The battle for sixth, seventh and eighth was a rather more intense affair after a thrilling battle between initially Menu, Salvatore Tavano, Dirk Muller and Yvan Muller, before being joined a charging Priaulx from 25th on the grid on the final lap.
Still struggling with his car in race trim, Menu slipped back into the clutches of Tavano but the Italian's failure to get past the Swiss driver was punished by him being caught – and passed – by Dirk Muller and Yvan Muller, the quartet covered by little over a second as they disputed the same piece of tarmac, before Tavano slipped back.
Going into the last lap, Dirk had finally muscled his way past Menu, who was duly followed by Yvan, only for the SEAT to get a run on the BMW and pass him for sixth place. Capitalising on this, Menu re-passed Muller, only for the German to hit back over the next couple of bends, forcing the Chevrolet out wide and allowing through Priaulx, who had been some four seconds off the battle with just three laps to go.
Going over the line with little to choose between the battling quartet, Yvan Muller took sixth, with Dirk holding on for seventh and Priaulx claiming a vital single point in a championship where just one position could make all the difference. Menu was a disappointing ninth and out of the points, having started the race from pole.
