Apart from that, it was my birthday last Thursday so I’ve been on a bit of a rest in Spain with friends for the last few days. I’m coming straight from the beach to Zandvoort and I’m really, genuinely up for it and excited; I can’t wait to get in the car!
It’s nice to be back with N.Technology again, having completed my first full season in the WTCC with the team back in 2005, but it’s a very different atmosphere within the team now compared to then. Before, there were two very established drivers in the team, but now I’m the lead driver and the focus of development has a lot more of a direct route to me. I’m really enjoying working in this sort of atmosphere and developing the car as I want it.
This year, the team is a very compact unit and we’re racing because we want to be racing. N.Technology is passionate about the sport, I’m passionate about driving and we both want to win.
Through collaboration, we’ve transformed the car into something completely different to the Alfa Romeo I drove in 2005. We’ve all put our heads together and Marco, the chief designer, has been very open-minded and very good at his job. There’s a willingness throughout the whole team because we want to breath new life into this car for the rest of the season.
Hopefully, the work will start to pay off in Holland…
Until next time,
JT
