I still think that you don’t ever really know a circuit until you have done a complete race weekend on it. You have to qualify and race on a track to know how it evolves, how it affects the car. I also think you need to have gone away and looked at the data from the whole weekend before you can truly say that you know a track…but that’s just my opinion!
We had a shakedown in Italy but aside from that, I’ve been training really hard since the last race. I want to be in the best physical and mental condition for the rest of this year. The aim, as I said above, is to win two more races at least before the season ends so I’m working on both the fitness and focus side of things as much as possible.
The team is fantastic, everyone is constantly working towards updating the car but you have to choose how brave to be with the changes too. We could have a virtually new car for each race in terms of how much we can change, but with two wins in Valencia we also know that the car we have is very fast. You have be careful of the changes you make and keep a level of consistency throughout all the decisions that are made.
We all want a really strong finish to the season and with nearly half of it over, we all have to push very hard. I have to say though, I don’t think any other team could have done it under the conditions we are in this year and so far we’ve won as many races as any other driver in the championship!
Until next time,
