I was very proud with all the drivers and hope it was noted how cleanly they drove and how competitive they were. They can be as young as 15-years-old to do this series so many are still juggling school work and exams with their driving careers. I hope both myself and my co-instructor, Enzo Mucci, can give them good advice.
Talking about kids, it was great to get home after Brands and spend some quality time with the family in Guernsey. I joked with my wife Jo that the kids kept calling me John and wondered what the name of the milkman is now! Seriously though, my family are such an important part of my life, so any time with them is precious. I still have the motor home that I shall take to all the races so I can have a haven to go back to after my stints in the car. It is nice to go and make mates a cup of tea or take turns in cooking supper for the kids. I know lots of the drivers in
F1 are now using motor homes at the tracks instead of hotels and I agree with them about how much more relaxing it is. No sitting in traffic jams and somewhere quiet and familiar to escape to at any time. Motor racing is stressful enough so any way of easing this is perfect and I hope that at the end of the championship I can report that this has helped me be successful again.
Anyway, next weekend its Magny Cours, and once the race is run, I’ll be back to tell you all about it.
