Monza 2006: Farfus wins, SEAT shine, BMW flounder.

Augusto Farfus Jr. took advantage of his pole position to secure his second World Touring Car victory in a hugely eventful second race at Monza that saw SEAT star again and main rivals BMW fall foul of collisions.

Even Chevrolet will go to France with confidence after Nicola Larini added to Menu's points haul, by managing to drive from the back of the grid to take an impressive seventh place on his home round.

BMW though will be shelling out a heavy repair bill after seeing all of their cars involved in accidents, a result that meant not one 3-Series was classified in the top ten, despite there being a total of 11 of them being on the grid. Indeed, BMW are looking at an exciting battle this year to hold onto their crown.

Elsewhere, Balzan took a superb fourth place and the Independent win, but as the Italian Superturismo competitor is unlikely to be seen again in the WTCC, it meant that Tom Coronel effectively took the class win in 13th overall.

Ryan Sharp had an impressive touring car debut in his JAS Honda Accord, with 14th place overall and fourth in class, although that is second if you consider that two rivals ahead will not be fighting for the championship.
