I was lucky enough to meet Jacques earlier in the year at the Geneva Motor Show and we got on well there. It was great to meet up with him and have the chance to chat again over dinner in London on Monday night. What a great guy he is. When I think of how busy I am, I realise that the
F1 drivers are often even busier. He recently got married and I found out that he did the Monaco Grand Prix, got married in a civil ceremony the next day, spent two days testing in Paul Ricard, and then got married again in Paris in a religious ceremony. Johanna is wife is not only lovely but very understanding!
Since then I have had a few days at home, a test in Hungary with
BMW Team UK and am now on a plane on my way to Montreal. I am back in the F1 car and this time it will be in the middle of the town. This will be even more amazing than
Silverstone as I am sure we will be able to attract lots of new fans. However, from what Jacques says, the Canadians are big fans of F1 and it is likely we will get lots of them turning up. Montreal is a city I have never been to before, so this will be an experience. It is a young city and lots of fun. I just hope that I don’t get involved in too much of the night life that I understand goes on until dawn. Anyway, I have a reason to keep myself fresh.
Directly after the race I fly to Brazil for the WTCC race in Curitiba. Another new experience in another new country for me, I can’t wait.
Until next time
