Brands Hatch 2006: Muller leads SEAT train.

SEAT completed what they have threatened to do all season by locking out the podium in the first race at Brands Hatch, the third round of the World Touring Car Championship, with Yvan Muller making a triumphant return to Britain ahead of Peter Terting and James Thompson.

However, his win did come at the expense of Emmet O'Brien, the Irishman reveling in the poor conditions to haul his Wiechers-Sport BMW from last on the grid to the lead of the class, only to spin out almost as soon as he had claimed the top spot.

The result has now placed Muller back to the top of the championship standings, while SEAT have also overhauled BMW for the lead in the manufacturers table.

Whether or not SEAT can repeat their impressive feat in the second race from third, fourth, sixth, seventh and eighth on the grid remains to be seen but having dominated all weekend on what is still a slippery circuit, their progression through the pack is set to make for some riveting viewing.
