Curitiba 2006: Gene claims first win of season.

SEAT's Jordi Gene denied Augusto Farfus victory in front of his home fans with his first win of the year in round nine of the World Touring Car Championship at Curitiba in Brazil.

Duncan Huisman was a modest 11th on his debut in the Team Italy-Spain squad, a place ahead of the leading independent driver Ryan Sharp, the Scot taking an impressive win for JAS Honda having kept up with the leading field for much of the race and then passing previous championship leader Yvan Muller on the last lap. The Frenchman had to contend with a disappointing 13th place.

Chevrolet's weekend to forget continued with Rob Huff their best driver down in 18th place, just ahead of Alain Menu in 19th, while Nicola Larini was forced to retire having run little higher.

Tom Coronel was second in the independents category in 14th place overall, while Luca Rangoni was third and 17th overall.
