On Saturday night I went to a beautiful restaurant called Grimpa's where they serve meat freshly cooked to your table and sliced it to your liking! It was a really chilled evening and we had the good company of Stefano D'Aste and his girlfriend Linda - a very enjoyable evening with one of my main rivals, surprising for motorsport!.
The circuit in Curitiba is a challenging one with a nice mixture of high-speed corners on a pretty bumpy circuit, but I liked it very much I have to say. The car felt good all weekend. After qualifying I was 20th overall and third in the Independents. The racing was very close all weekend with the top twenty being covered by only one second for much of the weekend.
I had a lonely race in race one and I was struggling with an understeering car due to having old tires. I made the best of a difficult situation and finished fourth in the Indys and 21st overall. The race had two safety car periods, which bunched us all up but there were no real dramas - it was just a case of making it to the finish and collecting some valuable points.
Race two however was somewhat more exciting! I had a good first lap and I made up some places and made some clever moves. It’s the first race that I was battling for positions for the whole race and it was really good. I had a two-lap door handle to door handle battle with the new works Spain - Italy
BMW driver Duncan Huisman. It was fair but really hard racing. My team told me to let him go and follow him so I did. I was having such a good race because I caught up with Tom Coronel and Ryan Sharp who were 12th and 13th overall and first and second in the Indys and I could feel that my first Independent win was there for the taking. The three of us had a great fight for position, at one stage we were three abreast going down the main straight into the first corner - now that’s racing!
