N.Technology has announced that its relationship with Alfa Romeo and the Fiat group is to come to an end after 18 years.
The team has enjoyed multiple successes during its time with Alfa Romeo and came close to snaring the WTCC title this season thanks to James Thompson – who finished third despite limited budget and little testing over the course of the year.
Thompson will now be given the honour of driving the Alfa Romeo on its final appearance with N.Technology when he lines up alongside
MotoGP ace
Marco Melandri at the Bologna Motor Show next weekend.
“It is extremely poignant to see the end of such a successful relationship,” team principal Mauro Sipsz said. “Together with Fiat and Alfa Romeo, we have achieved numerous victories in motorsport including six Drivers, three Manufacturers and four Team Championships during the Alfa Romeo 156's ten year history.
“This year has once again shown the might of the 156, with two wins, eight podiums and third place in the WTCC drivers championship. With such competitiveness shown this season, we would be pleased to see another team reach a similar level of success with this car in the 2008 WTCC or in a national championship.”
The team is currently negotiating with other manufacturers before deciding its future plans.
