N.Technology may be running a new car for the 2008 World Touring Car Championship but the Italian squad looks set for some continuity on the driver front after James Thompson revealed he will remain with the team into next season.
The 33-year-old Briton finished in a fine third place this season despite the fact that he was unable to complete hardly any testing during the year due to budget restrictions and was also running in an Alfa Romeo 156 entering the final stages of its time in the series.
However, Thompson will now hope to build on his fine campaign into 2008 as N.Technology enters a new era after ending its lengthy association with Alfa Romeo.
"I'm staying with N.Technology," he told
Eurosport.yahoo.com.. "I've learned that chopping and changing teams every year doesn't get you anywhere.
"You have to build working relationships with people and staying with N.Technology, who have proved this year what a capable bunch they are, is the right move."
What Thompson will actually drive next season remains to be seen, with discussions ongoing with a number of manufacturers before a final decision is taken on which way the team will elect to go.
The current favourite would see the team run the Honda Accord Euro R but whatever he ends up driving, Thompson said he was confident that he would have a package capable of fighting for race wins.
"The team are talking to a number of manufacturers for 2008, and they really deserve to have a factory contract," he said. "If that happens, and I hope it does, I will be racing for them, otherwise, it looks like we'll have to do something on an independent basis.
"Whatever, these guys are really good and have 100 per cent faith that they'll give me a car that is capable of winning races."
