Proteam Motorsport has confirmed the re-signing of Independents' champion Stefano D'Aste for the 2008 World Touring Car Championship season.

The Italian, who drove for the team in both 2005 and 2006, will join forces with former GP2 racer Sergio Hernandez for the coming campaign after a year with the Wiechers-Sport team – ironically beating Proteam's Luca Rangoni to the title by just two points.

Hernandez will be taking part in the WTCC for a second season having competed for Proteam for the majority of the 2007 campaign, the Spaniard missing the Brno round after being dropped in favour of Davide Roda but still finishing fourth in the standings.
