Multiple champion to take part in 2008 campaign.

Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport has become the latest team to confirm an entry into the 2008 World Touring Car Championship season, becoming the first Turkish outfit to enter into a full season in the WTCC in the process.

The team will run a BMW 320si in the Yokohama Independents' Trophy, with six-time national title winner Ibrahim Okyay at the wheel.

The 38-year-old has some previous experience of the WTCC having taken part in the Istanbul race in 2006 as a one-off for the Gillette M3 Power Team – taking third amongst the independent runners in he second race of the weekend at the wheel of BMW 320i.

Okyay could also be joined by another driver for select events, with team manager Aydýn Ural stating that a second car is being lined-up for some of the European races.
