World Touring Car Champion Andy Priaulx is to give fans attending his home round of the WTCC at
Brands Hatch something special with the news that he will complete demonstration runs in a
BMW Sauber
F1 car.
Priaulx, who previously tested for the
Williams team back in 2005/06, will perform a series of demonstration laps on both the Saturday and Sunday of the Brands Hatch race weekend in between his track outings in his WTCC BMW 320si.
"The WTCC at Brands Hatch promises to be another great weekend," he said. "It's always a highlight for me to race in front of my home crowd and I'm looking forward to giving the fans something to cheer about, both in the WTCC races and the F1 car.
"This is an amazing time for the BMW Sauber F1 Team and to have the chance to show the fans an F1 car at Brands Hatch is a real treat for me and them. The noise will be phenomenal and it promises to be a real spectacle."
Circuit owner Jonathan Palmer said he was excited by the prospect of seeing a modern
Formula One car turning laps the Kent venue – which last hosted an F1 race back in 1986 when
Nigel Mansell won in a Williams-Honda.
"We're thrilled that BMW has chosen Brands Hatch to showcase their Formula One car," Palmer enthused. "The sheer speed, sight and particularly sound of a current top F1 car will be quite amazing and undoubtedly draw a huge crowd on this unique occasion."
