James Thompson will hope to bounce back from his disastrous weekend in Estoril as the World Touring Car Championship heads to
Brands Hatch for the latest round of the season.
The N.Technology driver endured a weekend to forget in Portugal when a series of engine problems on the Honda Accord Euro R forced the team to withdraw from race day and watch from the sidelines.
Thompson will now look to get his campaign back on track at a circuit he knows well from his time on the British racing scene and he said he was confident of a solid weekend.
"It's a track that can take you by surprise actually," he said. "Some of the corners are a lot faster than you think they are going to be! In any case, it represents one of our best chances for a strong result this year. The home support and the fact that I know the circuit better than most, both help tremendously.
"We're due a good result here, so let's hope this year is the year!"
Having broken into the points on more than one occasion prior to the disappointment of Estoril, team manager Andrea Muller said more top eight finishes were the aim on Thompson's home track.
"We may not be contending for the championship but we still have specific targets in mind," he said. "We want to be competing in the top eight consistently, before moving on to top three finishes and perhaps a race win.
"James knows this track extremely well and we will be using the confidence he has here to the maximum."
