SEAT Sport are looking to consolidate their place at the top of the World Touring Car standings as they head to Great Britain for the latest round of the championship at Brands Hatch.

Despite the spectre of a weight penalty from their considerable success this season, SEAT remain a constant threat, a fact reinforced last time out at Estoril when they scored a double victory.

Furthermore, SEAT head to Brands Hatch with three former British champions in their squad, a factor that is likely to see them challenging at the front of the field once again.

With all three of those drivers, Gabriele Tarquini, Yvan Muller and Rickard Rydell, filling the top three spots in the standings, 1994 BTCC champion Tarquini is confident the data garnered from racing the TDI at Brands Hatch last year will further help their cause.

“Brands has got to be a good circuit for our TDIs, because we competed with them last year and the experience gives us something to work with in order to improve our performance, especially in the qualifying rounds.”

Rydell, the BTCC Champion back in 1998, is looking forward to returning to one of his favourite circuits, not least because he heads to the round with a first win of the season under his belt now.

Brands Hatch is like my second home because I competed there twice at the British championship. It's my second favourite circuit after Macau and naturally I want to score points in both races, although I don't know how the car will perform with so much added weight.”
