Emmet O'Brien sees his proposed return to the WTCC fall through.

Emmet O'Brien has seen his plans to return to the World Touring Car Championship at Oschersleben come to a close.

The Irishman, who has raced for both Wiechers-Sport and GR Asia in the past, was due to contest the race in Germany with the same Poulsen Motorsport team he competes for in the Danish Touring Car Championship.

However, sponsorship issues mean that O'Brien's return to the series will now not take place as his focus remains on the DTCC.

Poulsen are expected to move into the WTCC next season, with O'Brien having been tipped as one of the potential drivers.
