Andy Priaulx has received his MBE from Queen Elizabeth II in an investiture ceremony at Buckingham Palace.

The multiple World Touring Car Championship title winner received the award not only for his achievements on track, but also for the charity work he carries out with the Priaulx Premature Baby Foundation, which he runs jointly with his wife Jo. Priaulx is also an ambassador for the Go Motorsport campaign being run by the UK's motorsport governing body, the MSA.

"It was a great honour to be awarded this and going to Buckingham Palace and meeting the Queen was just very, very special," he said. "She asked me about motor racing in Guernsey, although I explained that I raced all over the world.

"To receive this honour underlines my commitment to the charity and to assisting the newcomers to motorsport, so they can understand how much hard work it takes. It is a day I shall never forget."
