All teams are worried about the possibility that they will be hit with this random malfunction after Mclaren changed what has worked perfectly since 2008.

elijah, the change IS necessary for new engine formula for next year.

rob01, since the change is nessesary ,Mclaren should not issue it until it was tested thoroughly. Introducing it now has proved to be another blunder.

elijah. all the teams are using the new ecu, so all have the possibility of a glitch. things can work normally and be approved,but then something can go wrong.

however, when the ecus stopped downloading telemetry iduring testing, mes DID say that the problem would be solved before racing began.
so for whatever reason,mes do not tell the truth,and even went so far as to suggest that rbr were telling porkies by saying that the ecu was giving them trouble.

ferdi. i doubt that webber would "panic". yes, he is known for his tardy starts, but if everything is not working properly due to an ecu problem, then how can he be classed as panicking? if ant said that, probably he was not aware of any issue at the time. but all commentators do make boobs, and just talk for the sake of talking.

Richard, Ant actually made his thoughts known right after the race, 'before' any explanations were known, my point (the main question) was have there been any problems in the other series that use McLarens ECU's, Webber,s defender was unlike, Mark, was too quick off the mark

ferdi. re the macca ecu...yes, there were problems in testing. but this is the f1 mandated ecu. oddly enough, macca themselves did not have any problems with it, and i know that it would be lovely to insinuate a bit of gamesmanship, but i would also say that providing a macca ecu to the macca team, COULD be a slight advantage to a team who would have advance knowledge of its performance. however, we must accept that fia ia ensuring fairness....

i dont know who supplies ecus to nascar and indycar, but somehow i doubt that it would be macca. further, i would doubt that any nascar ecu would be very sophiscated, and an indycar ecu would only be a fraction of what is required by f1..
