I think that now rules him out of ever returning to F1 again, but the main thing is he is happy and enjoying his retirement it is still not the same though without him chasing cars anymore.Go Schumie!!!

Glad to see Schumi doing something in which he can be comfortable in, as returning to F1 was a bridge to far for the great man who was taken apart by Nico for three seasons which surly must of elevated Nico's status at the Silver Arrows until the arrival of speedster.

I suppose no traction control and no testing finally asked to much of the 7xwdc.

@take it or leave it - Schumacher had the better of Nico for most of last year. There is no denying that he had more than the normal amount of bad luck and team caused problems. Plus there were many times in the first two seasons at Merc that he was put in a supporting role for Nico. So far with Nico and Lewis it is 1 - 1. Nico is proving that he is no slouch. I agree though that the lack of testing probably hurt Schumacher given his strong work ethic. That was an area that he could really establish his dominance.

As far a i know its Lewis out-qualifying Nico 2-0 and in the race its also 2-0 with Hamilton pulling away from him in Aus before Nico drove the car to hard in trying to catch Hammi and retiring, and again he was leading in the last race before Mercs realized their error in short fueling Lewis and rightly saying since Lewis was leading and would have been passed by Nico due to their mistake and not anything Lewis did, it was deemed that the positions should remain the same as the positions would have finished if Lewis was not short fueled.

So for me Mark Lewis has come into Nico's team and the usurping has well and truly started.

george. to the contrary. ferrari had schumi as their development driver, and he was on their payroll when they wanted him to drive when massa was injured. he declined, citing neck problems, and then promptly went and signed with merc. he could not continue with ferrari and drive for merc, so he quit ferrari

@richard - while it is true that MS stayed on the payroll at Ferrari they did force him into an early retirement. I don't think that coming back to Ferrari full time was ever an option for him.
